A cello has a large, thin-walled body and a long neck under constant string tension. Seams and the top plate respond quickly to dry air, while damp conditions can soften glue and dull the sound.
The cello cabinet keeps the instrument upright and padded while holding the target humidity you select. A bow shelf or hook can keep accessories in the same environment.

Can I keep the cello in its hard case inside?
Cases usually take more room than the instrument. Most owners store the cello alone and keep the case beside the cabinet, as in the photo.
